The patient in the photo complained of premature aging. She is 47 years old but believed that she looked like she was in her late 50s. She had deep wrinkles in her forehead, had crow’s feet around her eyes, and deep folds in her frown (Glabella) areas. The patient received 60 units of botox in the forehead (20 units); the crow’s feet (10 units to each of the two crow’s areas) and the frown area (20 units) result is shown at 3 weeks. The patient had also undergone fraxel laser skin resurfacing.

Botox is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. It is a nonsurgical, physician administered aesthetic treatment for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows for people of the ages 18 to 65 years of age. The treatment involves small doses of Botox administered via tiny injections directly into the underlying muscles between the brows to temporarily reduce the muscle activity that causes frown lines.  Botox is able to do this by blocking nerve impulses that trigger wrinkle-causing muscle contractions and weaken the muscles responsible for the formation of these lines, thus creating a smooth appearance. Frown lines between the eyebrows, forehead lines, and crow’s feet can be reduced or eliminated by tiny injections of Botox®.

By relaxing the underlying muscle, the Botox reduces the appearance of these lines and wrinkles while allowing you to express emotions naturally. The results of Botox can last up to four months before additional treatments will be necessary to maintain your improvement. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes and there is typically no downtime afterwards.
