Fraxel Dual is a non-ablative laser that is able to address issues such as:
1) Textural irregularties
2) Enlarged pores
3) Acne scars
4) Age spots
Why Is Fraxel Dual Unique?
Fraxel Dual uses two energy wavelengths, the 1927 and 1550nm. Both of these are safe enough for all skin types.
Many types of lasers are easily absorbed by melanin. This is a problem for ethnic patients who face the risk of overheating, scarring and hyperpigmentation.
Fraxel Dual is able to address just the problem areas, leaving healthy skin untouched. This allows patients to experience excellent results with very minimal downtime.
How Does Fraxel Dual Work?
The 1550nm wavelength targets deeper skin issues, while the 1927 nm wavelength is used to refine issues closer to the skin’s surface.
Being a non-ablative laser, Fraxel Dual does not vaporize tissue. However, it’s laser energy will create deliberate heat wounds in the dermis layer. This will trigger the production of new collagen fibers.
This new collagen improves the texture of the skin and helps to diminish the appearance of acne scars.
Fraxel Dual’s energy also destroys cellular structures that contain melanin. The circulatory system carries away the fragments of this process, clearing away the pigment responsible for age spots and melasma.

Fraxel Dual for Acne Scars
Fraxel Dual is an effective way to treat acne scars. The energy from this system will activate the skin’s production of collagen fibers to create a more even appearance on the surface.
Before addressing the scar tissue, it is important to clear up the existing acne. Dr. Umar is able to achieve this using the Spectra laser. Here are two patient examples:
Fraxel Dual For Surgical Scar Removal
This Fine Touch Dermatology patient wanted to minimize the appearance of the scar on his nose which had resulted from a punch biosy at another clinic. Fraxel Dual was able to help his skin generate new collagen tissue. This filled the recession of his scar. As a result, it became less deep.
