Fine Touch Dermatology offers  both Restylane and Perlane. Both are hyaluronic acid dermal fillers manufactured by the same company, Medicis Aesthetics Inc.

Commonly Asked Questions About Restylane and Perlane

What is Restylane

Restylane is made of non-animal sourced hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural sugar that is found in our bodies. It is able to bind to a large number of water molecules. This gives it the ability to lubricate and hydrate the skin. However, the hyaluronic acid used in Restylane comes from bacteria and processed further.

The final injection product has a specific concentration of cross linked molecules. Also the HA has been structured to form microspheres. Both Restylane and Perlane are made of tiny round spheres.

Juvederm (which is a similar hyaluronic acid filler) is produced into a “smooth textured compound” instead of microspheres

How is Restylane Used

Restylane can be used in the same areas as Juvederm.  It is useful for filling deep grooves around the mouth such as:

1)   Nasolabial folds/laugh lines

2)   melomental folds , also known as sad mouth corners or laugh lines

3)   lipstick lines (vertical lines that extend upwards from the lips)

4)   indentations at the corners of the mouth

5)  lip augmention

Restylane is also useful for enhancing the contour and volume of the lips. There are some cases where it is suitable for other facial contouring applications such as the nose and the cheeks.

In general, the filler can be expected to last between three to nine months, depending on the amount of product injected and how fast it is metabolized by the patient.

Restlylane is can be used to fill in depleted volume. This can be used for antiaging purposes or the lips*

What is Perlane

Perlane is a very similar product to Restylane. However, its microspheres are bigger in size. Therefore it can be used for more robust applications such as deeper nasolabial folds around the nose and mouth.

Perlane can also be used for the same application areas as Restylane, including lip enhancement
