Crow’s feet are the fine lines and wrinkles found around a person’s eyes. They usually branch out horizontally from the eye toward the ear. Crow’s feet are often caused by repetitive squinting; as facial muscles cause the tissue to fold, thus permanently wrinkling the area.  Like other facial lines, crow’s feet may be partly caused by sun damage and other environmental factors.  For the most part they are caused by sun exposure, but smoking can make them worse.  It can also be caused by facial expression such as smiling, laughing and squinting. However, for many, they are simply part of the aging process. For people who do not like with crows’ feet, various surgical techniques can be used to smooth the skin.

The treatment for crows feet is often done as a part of blepharoplasty. Each of the muscles that are most responsible for forming the crows feet are substantially weakened for a greater term thus providing the patient with permanent improvement. Blepharoplasty removes excess fat and muscle, and also skin from both lids. This procedure in essence provides a reduction in wrinkles while maintaining that fresh and natural look and feel.

In this process, excessive skin and fat are each removed from the region of the upper eyelid. As far as the lower eyelid goes, excessive skin is removed as needed. The fat cells most responsible for crow’s feet is also either removed or transferred to eliminate a sunken appearance.
