Not everyone feels they were born with the most perfect nose. Many individuals are dissatisfied with they way they look in profile due to a bump in their nasal bridge. Now, there are two cosmetic procedure options for making desired corrections.

  1. rhinoplasty surgery
  2. use of Radiesse

Surgery is naturally quite invasive. Getting rid of a hump on the nose would require cutting and removing the cartilage responsible for the unwanted shape. And this process is associated with the potential for unwanted risks and complications. Visible scarring is also likely. Furthermore, patients would need to take time off from work to recover from this type of procedure.

Also, surgical results are permanent. And this can surely be a good thing if the patient is completely happy with their final outcome. But if they are dissatisfied making corrections can be difficult.

The alternative to surgery is the use of a rather unique dermal filler known as Radiesse.

Why Does Radiesse Work?

Radiesse is made of tiny particles of a calcium compound known as calcium hydroxyapatite. These microspheres are able to create a firm mass under the skin when needed. And this serves to support a more desired facial contour shape. Read more

Patient’s New, Straighter Nose

Dr. U injected Radiesse in the upper part of her nasal bridge. The filler was then shaped to even out the appearance of the nose bump. The difference is illustrated when Dr. Umar held a ruler’s edge along the bridge. Before the patient’s treatment the bump created a space beneath the ruler. After her procedure, this is no longer present.

Dr. U also mentions that this type of treatment usually causes the nose to appear longer. And also it can improve the visual harmony between the eyebrows and the nose.

When asked how she feels about her new appearance, the patient replied, “Oh I like it so much better. It looks great. I don’t have to worry about it looking weird.” She also added that “It looks more symmetrical.”

With Radiesse, patients have much more control over the look of their nose. During the procedure, they are able to remain wide awake while holding a mirror to direct the physician on what they would like to see. And if they are not happy with their outcome, the results can easily be altered according to their preference.

Radiesse will usually last anywhere from 9-12 months.
