AN ANTI-AGING REGIMEN FOR EYES

6. Dermal  Fillers: Restalyne & Belotero

Injectable dermal fillers are an effective anti-aging regimen to temporarily smooth the skin around the eyes. Additionally, these fillers provide subtle, natural looking volume to correct hollow eyes.

Restlylane is can be used to fill in depleted volume. This can be used an as anti-aging regimen for the eyes.

temporarily smooths skin, increases volume in areas of fat loss and diminish wrinkles. It is a hyaluronic acid formulation approved by the FDA to treat facial folds and wrinkles and for lip augmentation. The specific formulation is known as NASHA, which was the first non-animal derived hyaluronic acid injection.

Restylane works two fold an anti-aging regimen. At the injection site, it adds volume. The increased fullness diminishes the appearance of wrinkles. It also has hydrating properties and binds to water molecules to sustain fullness.  Additionally, Restylane promotes more collagen production.

With age, collagen production decreases. Fibroblasts in younger individuals stretch, which prompts collagen production. Fibroblasts in older individuals stretch less so collagen production decreases. This leads the creases eventually turning to permanent wrinkles and skin folds. Restylane prompts the fibroblasts to increase stretching, which in turn increases collagen production.

Another difference in older individuals is more collagenase prevalence. This enzyme breaks down collagen, also resulting in wrinkles and skin folds. Restylane inhibits the break down, which improve the appearance and texture of skin. Because it is naturally produced, there is no chance of an allergic reaction, which also makes it biodegradable. The body will naturally break down the filler substance within six to nine months post injection.

Belotero is the latest addition to the family of injectable dermal fillers. It is a hyaluronic acid (HA) formulation and works similar to other HA formulations such as Restylane and Juvéderm. All three temporarily eradicate facial wrinkles and folds. However, Belotero also targets fine lines and may be injected closer to the skin surface to address fine lines.

A study by Merz Aesthetics, its distributor, reveals that most patients need two injections to reach maximum skin smoothing benefits. When the efficacy fades, Belotero is naturally eliminated from the body.

Belotero injections work as an anti-aging regimen by replacing the lost HA around eyes, which adds volume back to face. HA binds with water to plump wrinkles and folds temporarily, usually from six months to a year.

All three HA formulations (Belotero, Restylane and Juvéderm) are cross-linked to create thicker, longer lasting injectables. Belotero slightly differs because its structure involves Cohesive Polydensified Matrix technology. It is a monophasic compound rather than particulate suspension.

This technology makes Belotero more lightweight and elastic, which allows injections closer to the surface. With the suspensions, they are prone to clumping if injected this way.
